Input and edit elementary objects
GRAPES can draw the circle determined by center and radius, a point, and horizontal and vertical lines. We call these objects "Elementary objects".
New object
- Point the cursor on the [Draw] button in the Elementary Objects Area on the Data Panel. The available object names will be shown. Select the one you want.
- The Properties window will be displayed. Input as explained in the following.
Edit and Delete
- In the Elementary objects Area, click the expression part of the object you want to edit or delete. The Properties window will be displayed. Input as explained in the following.
Types of elementary objects
- At first, select one of the elementary objects (circle, point, horizontal line, vertical line) you want to draw.
We explain this with an example of [point] in the following.
Input an expression (value)
- Clicking at the right part of "x =" will display the calculator, then input an expression.
If the input expression contains a parameter, the point moves with the parameter.
- Input also an expression for "y =".
- If "x" or "y" is used in an expression, this indicates the value of x or y coordinate of a point. The expressions from "y1" to "y9" are not available. If you want to refer to the components x, y, or r of a point A, input "Ax", "Ay", "Ar", etc.
Graph style
- Select the color of point, the size, On/Off of the after image, the label, and On/Off of the locus.
To make the point look like an empty little circle, click at the right part of the thickness.
- Click [OK] after inputting.
- The manipulation is almost same for another objects. It is necessary to input an expression of radius "r" for the circle, an expression of "y" for the horizontal line, and an expression of "x" for the vertical line.
Locus
- By moving a point with parameter and by connecting them, you can have a locus.
- To draw a locus, write the coordinate (x, y) of a center of the circle or a point using parameters, and indicate the thickness of locus (the color of locus is same as the color of point). Changing the parameter with the variation button draws a locus.
- When you want to draw a parametric curve, it's useful to select a parametric graph from the Parametric Curve Area.
- The locus is drawn as an after image. Therefore, to erase a locus, use clear after image.
Label
- You can give a name (label) to a point or a line and show them at any position.
- A descriptive text can be added to the label by inputting it in the text box, this text will be displayed on the screen.
- The label can, like Note, show an expression and its value.
But, the phrases for some lines and the color change are not available.
- The font size can be changed in the [Scale Options].
There are many formats for the decoration of letters.
To set a point easily
- By right clicking at a position where you want to set a point on the Graph Area, the PopUp menu will appear. Select [Set point].
