III Japanese Social Education
There were 1,320 public youth facilities in Japan as of 2005: 196 prefectural facilities (14.8%), 881 city (66.7%), and 243 town or village or union (18.4%) facilities respectively. According to their targets and functions, Childrenfs Natural Houses total 311 (23.6%), Houses for Youths (Lodging) total 209 (15.8%), Houses for Youths (Day Care) total 171 (13.0%), Cultural Centers for Children total 128 (9.7%), and other types of facilities total 501 (38.0%).
