Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization(SEAMEO) pays a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT)

On May 14, accompanied by CRICED Director Masami Isoda, Dr. Nakao Nomura, Regional Director for Southeast Asia and Taiwan, Bureau of Global Initiatives, and Ms. Nao Ishihara, CRICED Secretary-officer, Bureau of Global Initiatives, Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, director of SEAMEO, and Mr. John Arnold Siena, deputy director for programme and development, and Pn. Anis Alisya Abdullah, senior deputy rector of Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia, Ministry of Education Malaysia paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Masami Watanabe, Director-General for International Affairs, MEXT, and Mr. Koji Kitayama, Director, International Affairs Division, Minister's Secretariat, MEXT.
After the signing ceremony for the renewal of the Japan-ESD Award, which is a collaborative effort between MEXT and SEAMEO, Datuk Habibah requested the establishment of a consortium among SEAMEO and Japanese higher education institutions, with the University of Tsukuba as its hub. With support of MEXT, it aims for SEAMEO to collaborate with Japan in a wider range of fields. Datuk Habibah also proposed the expansion of the SEA-Teacher Program, which is the international joint training program between SEAMEO and the University of Tsukuba.
The participants also made a cultural visit to an elementary school attached to the University of Tsukuba, where they observed a class and exchanged opinions about the lesson. Furthermore, Pn. Anis of IPGM and CRICED had a concrete discussion about future collaboration.
