CRICED Attends SEA-Teacher 9th Evaluation Meeting and Presents Achievements and Challenges of the Pilot Program in Japan
More than 70 universities from the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia gathered for the evaluation meeting of the 9th batch of the SEA-Teacher Program* on June 21 and 22, 2024, to share the results and improvements of the 9th batch of the SEA-Teacher Program.
CRICED, an Affiliate Member of SEAMEO, which currently is the only institution in Japan to participate in this international co-curricular program, participated in the meeting. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Natthaphon Santhi of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, the co-host of this meeting with SEAMEO, gave a welcome speech, followed by the opening remarks by Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director SEAMEO.
Dr Habibah introduced the University of Tsukuba, which has been engaged on the implementation of the SEA-Teacher program in Japan as a pilot since 2019 and expressed expectations for further collaboration in the future visioning whole Japan as a target. In the panel session, Ms. Nao Ishihara, CRICED Secretary-officer, presented the achievements and challenges of the SEA-Teacher Pilot Program as a panelist.
Many questions were asked from the audience about the implementation of the program outside the SEAMEO region, leading to a lively discussion. It is expected that University of Tsukuba will continue to promote collaboration with the SEAMEO Secretariat for further expansion of the program in Japan.
*SEA-Teacher Program is a one-month multi-lateral exchange teaching practice promoted by the University of Tsukuba together with SEAMEO, and is a project launched in 2016 to provide international co-curricular training for students who wish to become teachers between four countries in Southeast Asia and Japan.
The pilot program, which includes University of Tsukuba, Japan with the three partner universities (Kohn Kaen University in Thailand, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in Indonesia, and Central Luzon State University in the Philippines) has been implemented three batches so far
