CRICED and the math department of the Elementary school attached to University of Tsukuba collaborates with the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, SEAMEO, and the Indonesian Association of Lesson Study to conduct lesson study workshops at five venues.

Dr. Masami Isoda of the Institution of Human Sciences, who supervises national mathematics textbook of Indonesia, is developing an English-Indonesian Encyclopedia of Lesson Study Terminology to support its use. As a part of this project, from August 19 to 26, he collaborated with the original authors of the textbooks and teachers Mr. Shoji Aoyama, Mr. Kei Ohno, and Mr. Hidemi Tanaka of the math department of the Elementary school attached to University of Tsukuba, in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the SEAMEO Mathematics Education Center (SEAQIM) and Language Education Center (SEAQIL) of the Southeast Asian Education Ministers Organization, and the Indonesian Association of Lesson Study (Secretariat: the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia), the research conferences of lesson study was held in Yogyakarta (Teacher Training Center: 19th), Jakarta (Ministry of Education: 21st), Cirebon (Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon: 22nd), Ternate (Khairun University: 23rd), and Manokwari ( Papua University: 26th). Each site was successfully conducted with more than 300 participants, including online participants. Indonesia is an island state with the 17th largest GDP and 4th largest population, 5 times the land area and twice the population of Japan, and a north-south distance of less than 2,000 km and an east-west distance of more than 5,000 km. This is the second year for the lesson study workshop. We plan to continue to hold regular workshops in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and other ministries.
