IV Organization and Implementation of Curriculum
The gperiod of integrated studyh was newly established under the revised Course of Study adopted in 1998. This is a period when children can study beyond the normal framework of subjects by pursuing original ideas identified within individual schools: elementary schools, lower secondary schools and upper secondary schools. The aims of the period are mentioned below.
” Aims (elementary schools)
To develop and improve abilities and stature to solve problems by identifying issues, learning, exercising critical thinking, interpreting and acting independently through crossover and integrated study and explorative study, and to learn how to study and think, and to learn how to act independently and creatively to solve problems and to carry out investigative activities, and finally to be able to undertake self-introspection.
