International co-curricular mutual exchange SEA-Teacher Program (3rd pilot batch) implemented
SEA-Teacher Program is a one-month mutual exchange program promoted by the University of Tsukuba in cooperation with SEAMEO.
The SEA-Teacher Program is a one-month mutual exchange training program promoted by the University of Tsukuba and SEAMEO, which was launched in 2016 to provide international co-curricular training for students who want to become teachers between four countries in Southeast Asia and Japan.
As an affiliate member of SEAMEO, the University of Tsukuba is currently the only university in Japan participating in the SEA-Teacher Program, and has been expected by SEAMEO and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan to play a role in promoting the appeal of this project to many Japanese universities. In response, a special session on the program was held on the second day of the 12th SEAMEO Tsukuba University Symposium on February 27 and 28, where students and faculty members from the program presented the attractiveness of the program to an audience in Japan and 60 other countries.
Students who participated in the program commented; “Participating in this program was a value-changing experience form me; students from three different countries have different religions and cultural backgrounds from me, and I learned a lot from living together with them. The experience of teaching a subject in English was very difficult, but it helped me a lot in my future career as a teacher.” The program turned out to be a precious experience for the participants, as they were able to work together with three organizations from three different countries.
